Nowadays, the teaching of biology requires teachers to master contents in extremely recent scientific themes, which are based on complex concepts of genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology, rapidly evolving fields. Teachers must respond with confidence to these challenges, thus contributing positively to the scientific development of their students.
The postgraduate course in genetics for teaching (gene) was conceived based on an analysis of the updating knowledge needs of teachers in the 2nd cycle and secondary education, and includes curricular units expressly directed to resolving such needs.
