Objectives
The Degree in Communication and Public Relations is a multidisciplinary training in the field of communication, with an emphasis on the field of public relations. Produce a continuous press office management in the disciplinary field of communication sciences, this cycle of studies of general knowledge and incorporate practices in the area of business communication and promoters of subdomains: digital communication and social networks, promotion organization and protocol , advertising, visual communication and multimedia production. In a global world, in permanent transformation and with multiple economic, technological, ethical and environmental challenges, the Degree in Communication and Public Relations supports the institution of integrated communication in companies and institutions, proposing a comprehensive social approach to the scientific area of communication. , while emphasizing mediation strategies between organizations and their various stakeholders.
Access Requirements
Those interested can apply for the course through one of the following national competitions organized by DGES: National Competition for Access and Admission to Public Higher Education; and Special Regimes. They can also apply through the following special competitions, organized by the University of the Azores: Special Competitions for Access and Admission to the University of the Azores (Over 23 Years, Holders of Technological Specialization Diploma, Holders of Higher Professional Technician Diploma, Holders of Other Higher Education Courses); Regimes of Re-entry and Change of Institution / Course; Special competition for access and admission of international students to the University of the Azores. In all cases, the application is dependent on the candidates' compliance with the conditions required for this purpose. Career Opportunities
The Communication and Public Relations Licenciatura enables you to perform functions in communication, public relations, advertising and marketing in communication agencies, private companies and public institutions. Other professional opportunities are press relations, content management and production, event organization, protocol assistance, and communication consulting.
Learning Outcomes
To provide a comprehensive knowledge of the disciplinary area of communication sciences through a theoretical introduction to media studies, socio-cultural relations and communication practices in the contemporary world;
Train students in the area of strategic communication, whether in the context of the professional practice or the scientific study;
Respond to the needs of the professional market and dialogue with the civil society, providing individuals relevant knowledge and skills in the area of communication in order to deal with social, cultural, technological, economic and environmental issues that affect organisations and their different publics in a given context;
Promote an integrated vision of communication, covering different areas such as marketing, public relations and advertising and targeting concepts and operations related to different axes of strategic communication: social media management; press office; events organization and protocol; graphic design and multimedia.
To foster dialogue between teaching and research in the area of communication sciences, promoting collaboration between students, teachers and researchers, within research projects and future postgraduate studies;
To reinforce our partners network, at local, national and international level, in the academic field and among civil society, encouraging the participation in mobility programmes and, more generally, increasing the dialogue with teaching and research institutions, associations, organisations, companies and professionals in the area of communication sciences;
Adapt and reconsider the different contents of the curricular plan facing the current technological challenges, social issues and emerging cultural practices, with direct consequences in the field of strategic communication.
