The University of the Azores, in a similar fashion to the last decade, announces the Summer Course 2007, which will take place during July, on the islands of S. Miguel, Faial, and Terceira. This Course aims to all those who wish to engage or improve their learning of Portuguese Language and Culture and, simultaneously, it offers an opportunity to visit three islands of this magnificent Archipelago; this being so, the Programmes allow a direct contact with the Portuguese Language through formal classes, field trips, visits and social events involving personal contact with the local population.

Both pedagogic and social aspects take into account that candidates come from various parts of the world but share a common desire to know more about the Azores. It also caters for the needs of students of Portuguese descent who, during previous years, have requested from the University of the Azores an opportunity to learn more about the language and the culture of their forefathers.

All the Programmes are ministered by fully qualified Professors, of great scientific competence and professional prestige, thus giving quality to teaching and assuring those who have attended the courses in previous years.

In the programme there are also meetings, guided tours and excursions to tourism sites to allow a direct contact with the Azorean reality and to enable the participant to development and to practice the Portuguese language. Professors of the University of the Azores always accompany the students to all of these events.
